Mary Kay Makeover: What’s Your Wedding Look?

Last Wednesday was a brief respite from the relentless cold in Indiana, being a sunny sixty degrees.  A great day of windows down, smiles, and Mary Kay makeovers.  Because why not treat yourself?

The lovely Holly Martin of Mary Kay came to the studio to have some fun, and show us a couple of her favorite wedding looks.  My friend Wendy and I served as “models” for her product, and Marty was a trooper while patiently photographing our giggles and good times.

I asked Holly to create a couple different looks, based on our facial features and styles.  Although Wendy and I have similarities in skin tones and hairstyles, we couldn’t be more opposite.  I love bold blacks, whites and reds, while Wendy loves soft earth tones, pastels and neutrals.  I wear make-up every day, and love it, while it is a rare occurrence to find Wendy in more than a smudge of eyeliner.

So Holly had her work cut out for her.  Make two completely different looks for two completely different girls and teach us how to create the look ourselves.  Oh yea, and deal with our somewhat oily, acne cursed skin!

Mary Kay TimeWise Skin Care

She walked us through the Mary Kay TimeWise® Skin Care, sweetly mentioning how you start aging after twenty-two (YIKES).  In fact, we spent more time preparing and pampering our skin than we did applying make-up. The cleanser she gave us was refreshing and exfoliating, and the moisturizer that followed seemed to even out the oily patches and the dry patches on my face all at once.  She even gave us some SPF to apply, cautioning the aging effects of the sun. There was almost an audible ‘Ahhhh’ from my pores.

Then the make-up! It was a beautiful mess of primer, concealer, liquid foundation and loose powder.  She matched our skin tones perfectly, and all of a sudden the skin was soft, clear canvas.  We chatted about the different eye shadows, liners, and lip colors.

In the end, she chose a warm, natural gold for Wendy’s eye shadow palette, with a swish of whimsically purple eye liner.

Wendy felt most comfortable in a pale pink lip, and we finished off the look with a hint of blush and a lick of mascara.

This bridal look if perfect for the girl who wants to look “perfect as usual”.  The, “No, I am not wearing make-up! My skin always sparkles.”

The plum liner adds a bit of quirky fun, but all in all, Wendy has an organically simple look.

For my look, Holly didn’t hold back with a daring violet eye shadow, and a deep sapphire liner.

We chose a pink lip color that was noticeable, but wasn’t the main attraction as to not draw away from the eyes.

This look is great for a bride who wants that grand entrance with all eyes on her.

The, “Why YES you can tell me how awesome I look right now!” kind of bride, who isn’t afraid to take the bold move on her day.

Again, the look was completed with a bit of blush and mascara.
